Pod is a disruptive food-tech startup revolutionizing the B2B food supply chain. Based in Texas, with operations in cities like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, we aim to create a data-driven food distribution marketplace that aligns grocery store inventories with consumer preferences.

We are seeking a Backend Engineer for a full-time position in Hanoi, Vietnam. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-growing company, positively impact food production and distribution, and promote environmentally sustainable practices.

What we expect you to do 

• Partner closely with backend engineers, product team, and security teams to ensure system reliability and scalability.

• Mentor teammates on infrastructure best practices and security-conscious development.

• Contribute to setting technical direction for infrastructure initiatives.

• Implement monitoring, alerting, and autoscaling strategies to ensure reliability and performance at scale.

• Architect and enforce robust security primitives for services, APIs, and resources

• Comfortable within a mature Rails codebase

Minimum Requirements

• Strong proficiency with AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, etc.)

• Expertise in distributed systems and job scheduling frameworks (e.g., Sidekiq, Temporal, and custom solutions).

• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation).

• Strong understanding of DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Kubernetes or ECS), and observability (Prometheus, Datadog, or CloudWatch).

• Deep knowledge of security best practices for cloud infrastructure, including IAM, VPC security, encryption, and compliance frameworks.

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend infrastructure or DevOps roles.

• 2+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails

• Experience building API’s using RoR and building and scaling applications and components using AWS

• Proficient with GitHub

Nice to have

• Experience scaling systems in high-growth startups and companies.

• Familiarity with zero-trust architectures and advanced security frameworks.

• Contributions to open-source infrastructure tools or libraries.
